Orlando: City breaking ground on pocket Lake Eola Park

The City of Orlando will officially break ground on a new pocket park on the northeastern corner of Central Boulevard and Rosalind Avenue this week.

The 0.12-acre property was purchased through a partnership with the privately-led Orlando Land Trust, which raised $3.25 million – in addition to $1.625 million from the downtown CRA – in order to create a new green space that will eventually, somehow, be connected to the almost adjacent Lake Eola Park.

The new park will soon feature large sidewalks, updated lighting, benches, shade trees, and native landscaping, once it is complete later this fall.

A groundbreaking event is being scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 3, and it will be attended by Mayor Dyer, District 4 Commissioner Patty Sheehan, and representatives of the Orlando Land Trust.

The former 7-11 building that occupied the lot was demolished in May 2022 and you can click HERE to watch a video of the demolition created by the Melrose Center.
