New Homes & Townhomes Coming to Downtown Winter Garden

Heritage at Plant Street residential project will bring new homes to historic Downtown Winter Garden

The builder M/I Homes started work on a residential development with 41 single-family homes and 43 townhomes near Downtown Winter Garden and next to the West Orange Trail.

The first two models of Heritage at Plant Street are expected to open this year, the developer said. The community will include a pool, walkways, and shared open space at East Plant and East Newell Streets. M/I did not release pricing.

The project emerges along a corridor the city hopes to reshape as a gateway.

In 2000, Winter Garden began buying up failing warehouses and other vacant parcels along East Plant Street for future development. Including money spent by a community-redevelopment agency, the city has paid $3.4 million for eight large parcels during the last 15 years. And in 2015, Winter Garden enacted a temporary building moratorium along East Plant Street in order to amend architectural standards and update its zoning and development codes.

The Downtown Winter Garden area also recently became the site for Jones Homes to launch its Stanton Estates project with 45 homesites near 535 West Plant Street with prices from the mid-$500s.
