Get 2 Free Trees for Arbor Day | City of Orlando
From the City of Orlando’s website:
Welcome to Energy-Saving Trees, a unique program designed to help you better understand where to plant trees on your property for maximum energy savings. This program is made possible by the City of Orlando, Arbor Day Foundation, Orlando Utilities Commission and the Florida Forest Service.
Did you know that if every resident planted a tree in the City of Orlando, our tree canopy would increase from 25 percent to 40 percent? That’s like taking nearly 40,000 cars off the road.
This program is available to residents who live within the city limits of Orlando. If you are unsure if you qualify, please check your address at this website: Orlando Information Locator
Trees aren’t only good for our environment and our health, they also add value to your property and generate energy savings for your home. In fact, just three to four mature shade trees located strategically around your house can cut your summer cooling costs up to 30 percent.
This program is part of Mayor Dyer’s Green Works Orlando initiative and the City’s continued efforts to be one of the most sustainable cities in America. By providing residents with free trees to plant on their property, this is another way, the City is transforming the urban environment to conserve, preserve and reuse valuable resources, ensuring a more livable Orlando for future generations to come.
